For those Victorians out there who wish to source some 'local' garlic, Green Temple is now selling new season garlic.

Our garlic is grown in a mandala style system, without the use of pesticides, herbicides, fertilisers and machinery. The only inputs are the chicken pooh that falls from our own chickens, a little supplementary feed and various types of straw mulch sourced locally. We never grow the garlic immediately after the chickens have been on the soil without a green manure or vegetable crop in between. Most of the imported straw is grown 'conventionally' but within 10km of Green Temple.

We are mostly selling our garlic in plaits, which work out to approximately $35 per kilo. A bargain if you ask me With what we are calling small, medium and large plaits

They make excellent Christmas gifts for those who want something natural and vital.

This Springs heavy rains and wet conditions caused us a few problems, but the good bulbs have nice plump cloves.
