Red face Newly converted city Permie

    Hi All,
I am recently converted to permaculture and found this great community. I am part of a group of parents who are organising a school community garden at our school and we have recently completed a Permaculture & community garden course to help us get there. I am looking forward to the wisdom and advice this community might be able to offer.

    Hi TMo

Its a wonderful thing to fall into, so I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Its also amazing what you can do with a small suburban plot. Make sure you share photos of what you get up to at the school.

Schools are a beaut place for permaculture. We have just hosted a school from the Central Coast who stayed camping on the farm for two days and we did great stuff like bee keeping and bread making and planting and harvesting and eating potatoes. We miked the cow and just generally "lived on the farm" It was a good time.

Are you aware of the gardens for learning web site?http://australianschoolgardensnetwork.ning.com/ may be something there for you

Our little local school is trying to lure our girls there (we are planning to home school). I know the principle, a nice guy, and he was telling me the other day about the vegie patch and chickens they have. He knows I am a 'greenie' so perhaps he was thinking he could convince me.

I've been thinking I might go down and offer my services for free even though the girls probably won't go there.

    Hi TMo,

Where in Sydney are you located? I'm on the Northern Beaches and have done quite a few school gardens. Let me know if you want any advice.
