    Hi Idris

Its a complicated process, especially if you're going for DGR status (tax deductibility). There are a number of organisations around to help, so its worth getting to know them and the support they offer. They include ACOSS, Pro Bono Australia, Our Community etc etc. You might want to consider auspicing off an existing organisation as an option as well.

    Good luck!

The process is very straight forward, incorporation about 120 dollars you need seven like minded persons and a good attitude.Contact your office of fair trading, the multi cultural and ethnic communities association have a good workbook about your governance issues etc.DGR status is very hard to get and if you are going for it you will need help with your constitution and your objectives,it would be worth seeking advice.Spreading the governance roles around and having people who are capable in the position will make the whole process easier.
    Good Luck.

Are you interested in Discretionary trusts? I am not thr one to help but am interested also in the answers. I have read and listened to Bills take on not for profit but not too sure of the first step either. The account or lawyer acting for someone like PRI would be a big help I think.

Default setting up non profit organisations

    Hi
I want to set up a non profit charitable organisation (incorporated) here in, Victoria, Australia.
I have done some research, written a mission statement, however I'm not so sure about the next step, in terms of lawyers and writing up a trust deed etc

any ideas? or past experience with a corporate/trust lawyer and costs?

    many thanks..

I have looked at it a little.
it does not seem very easy
The ATO has an email newsletter and a spot on their website that might help.

Eventually you will need a lawyer and an incorporated entity.
So if you know a free/cheap Lawyer go and speak to him now rather than later, you might save some time and grief

write to your local and federal MPs - most will have something on hand they can point you at
