    Default Is Peru's ag sustainable

We are David and Lin in the small coastal town of Los Organos, Peru. It is basically a tropical desert with usually very little rain here and pretty much all local food is brought in from the river-irrigated areas of Sullana and Piura, 3 hours away. This land is being given over to big business.

With a little water things would grow here like a jungle so that is the big problem.

Does anyone know of any decent projects of permaculture in the Coast, Mountains, or Jungles of Peru? Or in the other countries we have lived - Ecuador, Bolivia, Nicaraqua? Any info is appreciated.
