    Default Carambola from seed

Has anyone any experience of growing carmabola from seed. I am curious if they take that much longer to bear fruit. And if i should just buy a treeling.

We already have one carambola here but its one of those that doesn't bear fruit. Probably only through lack of tlc. I got a big bunch of rotten fruit from one of my neighbours. I thought i might try to plant from those. His fruit are huge.

hi sun burn, carambola does not come true to type from seed , you may end up with sour, bland or nice
buy a tree that is tagged as a known variety, some can have a hint of watermelon, passionfruit , apple or many other of the named selections , had a tree fruiting within three years on very fertile soil and ample water ,
