    Default Carrot caterpillar

Has anyone encountered caterpillar damage to carrot foliage.

Caterpillars have severely defoliated foliage of young carrots, leaving the shoots skeletonised.

I have a sample of the culprit and it is about 10mm long and curls up when disturbed.

I live in North Coast NSW, Australia

Hello, I don't know about your specific caterpillar but I do know that something has done the same thing to my carrots when I tried to grow them before and in fact nearly everything green I try to grow.(I am in India)
the best solution I have found is to put fine netting over them for some time until they get big. It's not a perfect solution as not practical for really large areas and some things still manage to find a way in, but it does seem to reduce damage. I haven't found any natural sprays to really work so far but would be interested to hear if other people do!!.
