Default Decided to blog my home project.. anyone else?

    Hey permies,
There was a thread way back about images and permaculture. I just started blogging my home improvement project, and started playing around with raster graphics to represent assessment and designs. Happy to get any feedback on stuff as I go. Anyone else out there have a blog running?

Really nice, Paul. How did you get the initial aerial photo?

My county government has an online GIS that is high resolution and updated every 2 years. I copied and pasted the image from the print screen into photoshop. You could do the same with google earth, or google maps. There is some decent coverage of Maui in the google system... but not all. If not on-line, you could contact your local state office... they often have good coverage... or a university map/GIS library might have some things.. if nothing else you could scan a print airphoto. For restoration work I am often looking at old air photos c. 1930's to get a feel for old stream channel alignments.

    http://seamless.usgs.gov/ has high res DOQQ's (c. early 1990s)

    http://www.hawaii.gov/dbedt/gis/ this looks promising...

All bad news if you don't have broadband

You know, I loaded google earth after looking at your work, with the specific intention of looking for our property again, and after I figured out where we were I finally realised that we are just inside the edge of the big blobs of no detail. Like, half a mile more and it would cover my valley! Ah well...
I'm going to check out your links tonight if I can stay awake long enough. Thanks!

Here's what we are doing at our place along with various notes on the real weapons of mass destruction (peak oil and climate change).

Thats brilliant. I was just looking at somone elses blog, which showed a building they are thinking about. I like how it is upgraded with new information, so you can follow the steps.

Lucky you on the GIS. Our place is so low resolution, you can ee the creeks, but not the houses in the village, or at our place, just blurry like Richard....

    Default Permaculture video blog

Nice images folks, i't great to see so many inspiring projects. Make sure you keep posting.

My partner Kirsten and I are doing the same kind of thing. We've just moved from Melbourne to the bush and we've both recently done a PDC with Geoff from the PRI. Our video blog is going to document the process of building our own little paradise from a piece of degraded sheep country in the mountains North West of Sydney.
