Post Hello! from Eagle Creek Oregon, USA

New property offers oppurtunity to learn and implement Permaculture design and systems. I'm just getting started, I'm excited, but hesitant to begin work. Everyday I read something and realize I have limited knowlegde that severely restricts intelligent design.

I am overwhelmed by the need for affordable clean healthy natural food and water, and equally dismayed by government/humanity as to why such an incredible species has destroyed itself as much as we have.

I love permaculture because I finally found something pure, quite like math, the correct answer is... follow the laws of nature! I am very excited for this journey and eager to find some co-participants.

I intend to learn and act upon my understanding of natural systems to generate the healthiest food, soil, water, enviroment, and community as posssible and willing. I intend to share my space with others who wish to learn and practice but may lack the resources, fellowship, or land.

I am cleaning the understory of timberland for a healthy and productive forest. Starting to grow our own food, learning bushcraft, homesteading, and renewable energy. I am currently reading many books and observing my property and it's natural cues before I disturb the land. Swales and on contour water management and catchment are of great concern as I have a 200 foot tall cliff dividing my property from river level land and the timberland portion of the property.

Meeting like minded people and finding a great PDC course are my first priority. If you have any suggestions for PDC courses near Portland Oregon I would be grateful. As a beginner and excited to learn and work I welcome any and all ideas and sugestions.

    G'day FrancisX

    Welcome to the PRI Forum.

It reads like you are off to a great start with your venture.

Should be plenty of opportunity for 'meeting like-minded people' in your area, as Portland OR is renowned (at least in my line of work/study) for having a large contingent of socio-ecologically aware residents.

    For example:

    Cheerio, Markos
