    Default Fungus

I am pleased to have found this site, I try to run a 'natural' garden, I have a few exotics but nothing harmful to the environment I hope. I have a fungus growing on a tree in the garden and have inadvertently put some of the spores in one of my compost bins, I don't want to spread it through the garden when I use the compost and wondered if there was a natural way to kill it without affecting the myriad worms in the bin. The best description I can give is that it's a bright gold colour and like a series of cups - rather like this image: http://www.fotosearch.com/CSP151/k1518987/

    Thanks, Will

What is the damage if they multiply in the garden?
You probably already have spores in the garden.

    That would be bracket fungus.

It only lives on wood, and generally dead wood, so it isn't a threat to your garden. Enjoy it, it is pretty.

Thanks for the reply, yes it is very pretty and am glad that it's harmless.
