Welcome to the forums zeynepilhan! While I don't know about groups or people around Stuttgart, I might be able to help with the reading list(unfortunately all in English as far as I know).

(Handbuch der Permakultur-Gestaltung)Permaculture: A Designers' Manual by Bill Mollison. This book spells out everything that is in a basic PDC and is the foundation of Permaculture.

(Not able to find a German counterpart)Introduction to Permaculture by Bill Mollison. A light version of the above book, but going into more detail on certain topics.

(Not able to find a German counterpart)Gaia's Garden by Toby Hemenway. I found this book very helpful with urban permaculture.

(Not able to find a German counterpart)Permaculture: Principles and Pathways Beyond Sustainability by David Holmgren. From what I've read so far, this book goes deeper into the philosophies behind permaculture and expands on them.

I have a few other books either on the way, or that I haven't gotten to read yet, but I'll stop here. You might want to look up Sepp Holzer, he does his permaculture thing, but since he's Austrian, I'm sure you can find something in German. Did you have a specific subject within permaculture that interested you?

If the growing your own food part is your topic of choice, I highly suggest that you talk with gardeners(or join a local gardening forum) to learn planting dates, what cultivars grow best in your area and other general cultural practices. Vegetables, fruit and nut production is very location specific.

Sepp Holzer is fairly local to you and his stuff would be well worth a look. He's in te Austrian mountains, so his climate's pretty unique. He writes in German and people are always looking for English translations; I think it might be one of those things where reading in the original language would be great.

    Default Welcome from Athens, GA

I am very new to this forum and am still in the reading and planning stages, but I would like to wish you luck. I lived in Germany in the early 70s and my landlady's husband worked in Stuttgart. You live in a beautiful part of the world! I'm reading most of the books that have already been listed. Bill Mollison and Sepp Holzer are great! Cheers.

Re German language books: I read Permakultur I, Permakultur II and Permakultur konkret in the late 80s. They should still be available. They are good books for helping you grasp the principles but they are not so relevant in terms of plant use as they were not adapted to the central European climate.
A cool book is "Der Paradiesgarten. Essbare Stauden selbst angepflanzt. Eine Übersicht von A bis Z" by Alexander Heil.

Re Sepp Holzer. Watch http://www.ecodeco.at/helptv.php for a "pinch of salt". (in German)
