Default Pullet with sore head or eye

We have a young pullet in our brood of 10 chooks. She has something wrong with her head or one eye, which is making her walk around with her head permanently twisted to one side. It seems to be inhibiting her vision so she is not seeing food very well and even finds it hard to find the door to get out of the coop in the morning. My wife picked her up for closer inspection, and says that the eyes don't look damaged, but she is red around the eyes, like a raw bruise. Some of the older chooks are a bit mean, so as the weakest one there our young pullet is now getting a lot of pecking around. But the original problem, twisted head and redness around the eyes, does not seem to come from pecking.

    Any ideas?

Is it a recent problem or a long-term thing Peter?

Be careful, the other hens might kill her if she becomes too weak to defend herself.

    I hope it's a physiological thing; here's something for a bit of a freak-out:! http://www.thepoultrysite.com/diseas...aramyxovirus-1
