Hi, I've just built a new hot water Donkey out of a 44gal (200L) drum. drum is not galvanised or stainless but was very clean inside (previously had thinners from new) washed it with detergent to kleen. first use it is turning the water a dirty colour, any odeas why?

Well we know what a hot water donkey is now, but what's a drop bear or a bunyip??

Wellington, if you can't see inside the drum I'd guess it has some lining that is heat sensitive and is now being released into the water with the heat. I'd have thought rust too, but I doubt it if the drum had thinners in it, unless the top has been open for a while.
