Default Homesteaders Wanted for TV series

A way to get Permaculture out into the masses

I see today that they are taking apps. for a reality series for people willing to head to Alaska and live a Homesteaders lifestyle. So I thought one of you Permie experts might possible get on the show and make Permaculture a more mainstream subject, Anyway if interested take a look at the sign up sight. http://www.realitywanted.com/call/16...a-to-homestead

In the end, we all work for ourselves, but in this case, you are also doing it for mass media.

for shame, it is true. I have promoted (unintentionally) for an incorporated entity, but look at the end result. I remember a thread not to long back wanting to know how to get Permaculture ideas out there. Well this is a way. It's just about connecting with others (a permie goal) so what better way than a free speaking platform too the masses on a global scale. It's the only logical step forward from UTUBE for Permie Publicity. It would be real nice to set up Permie Camps over in N. Korea and help with the food shortage as well. (if there really is one and its not just media misinformation)

I'm guessing they won't want you setting up a permaculture homestead, but instead want you to do some kind of really impossibly hard traditional homesteading. I didn't log in to see the casting requirements so I'm just guessing. I'm thinking it is implausible they will let you set up the homestead the way you want it. I'm guessing they will want you to raise animals of their choice (including a cow, of course) and grow "crops" of some kind.

Depends on what part, my friend up there tells me about weird weather which I also am experiencing. For example, forecast called for rain, got 6" of snow, which actually stuck. My area isn't supposed to get snow, let alone snow sticking, let alone 6" of it.

Being reality TV they will probably keep throwing stupid challenges in designed to upset you and get a reaction. Also with a lot of these shows have you noticed how they often pick people with personality flaws to make sure there is plenty of friction?

Saw a Yank sign on the net the other day- from outside a nursery
    It said:-
    Spring is here!
We got so excited we wet our plants

We were talking about something like this the other night. I said to wifey, 'What do you reckon people would make of us if we were on one of those The Family style reality shows?' We both went quiet contemplating that. We think people would think we were mean parents (what we think is constructive, boundary setting parenting). But we figured they would mostly think we were freaks. It would probably make good TV. I don't think I would enjoy it.
