Of course, QED, you only just thought of this?
Perhaps the plants (with addictive substances) are out to get us?

Salt, sweet, bitter, sour- argh! the temptations of the taste buds. These are supposed to be the simple pleasures, but only in moderation. Nothing like a slice of salty smoked salmon, some pickled ginger with a briny olive or five and a big fat wedge of double cream brie washed down with an earthy peasant shiraz! A good cheese is a worthy addiction eco.

    Is Sugar Addiction Real?(slide show)

Before you sprinkle that packet of artificial sweetener into your coffee, consider this: Researchers have found that sugar substitutes may leave you craving more sugar, making it harder -- not easier -- for you to control your weight. "You never get out of the sense of needing sweet, and eventually you're going to grab the real stuff," Kirkpatrick says.

I'm starting to wonder if its the sugar or the processing that it goes through.
Would homemade sugar crystals/syrup be better...(please say yes, cos I just found a source for the sugar sorghum and its an kiwi heirloom type too).

    There is always stevia.
I'm going to chase up a friend for her recipe for how she used to make a syrup with this-hope she has found her book.
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it...
