Question about worm bin and gerbil
I have heard that worms can eat rabbit droppings. Well, I was wondering if we could feed some used gerbil bedding to composting worms? The bedding is natural shredded cardboard, and the gerbil eats a plant-based diet. Anyone tried this or have advice?

mix in some coffee grounds and they'll be in worm heaven :-)

as far as compost worm food is concerned one golden rule if it was ounce alive and growing and is now dead thw worms will eat it they just love corrigated cardboard.
With the rabbits there seems to be an issue with the urine and the amonia from it. Having said that a lot of people in the U.S. breed rabbits and worms. I would try some of the bedding on one side of your worm bin and see if they go for it. There might be the same urine issue as with the rabbits. You could leave it for a couple of weeks and then try. The cardboard on its own doesn't have much nutritional value. Fresh wet Cow manure is one of the best things for worms as it is full of Lactobricillus bacteria. It is like putting your worms on steroids..

A gerbil looks a bit like a mouse or rat. You can google "gerbil" and look at images. Guinea pigs are rodents, as are mice, rats, gerbils, and hamsters, but do not look anything like gerbils. A guinea pig is a lot bigger than either a gerbil or a hamster. A hamster is different from a gerbil - short tail, for one. My gerbil is so hyper, you can hardly pet him
