    Lurnbricus rubellus is so boring. You should call the Brian's Biggest Beauties or something equally poetic.

    If it wasn't for you, Brian, there is a solid chance I wouldn't be doing so well. And now, thanks to you, I know I have a decent diversity of worms. I, in the permacultural-style, have just offered worms for free on a local forum so I do apologise for that, even though we live far apart. I think I can share my wealth, even though my money and hours of blending have gone into that and the fact I work for a pittance.

    You will reap that karma, somehow.

    No need to thank me I just love sharing the knowledge I pick up. Can't say I am always correct but I am learning along the way. As I get smarter I will try to update the advice I started to pack some of the Lumbricus rubellus ( European Night Crawlers) in some tubs for a sale on Tuesday. With the Reds I get about 100 worms to 30 grams, with these I get 30 worms per 30 grams and as I am charging 50 cents extra I put in 50 worms per tub. I think if I put more in they may stress so will see how this lot go.

    The more I read about the Europeans the more I like. I always thought they would struggle up here in the heat but they tollerate the same conditions as the Reds but are 3 times bigger when grown to their full potential.

    Hello Kerri,

    I was selling at the local markets last year when I was told about this site so I had a look and am still here. It is bit of a squeeze with this forum, The Worm Expert Forum and the Australian Freshwater Turtles Forum. I am a Mod on the last two. I really enjoy trying to learn from others and when I think I am smart enough I try to teach somebody else. Just had an email from one of my worm customers asking for some advice. It comes free before and after the sale. I have found most enquiry's to my site usually lead to a sale. Not setting the world on fire but advancing worm culture slowly but surely. It is just a hobby but one day you never know lol. Hope you enjoyed my site. I try to keep it updated as I get smarter.

    Crikey the new Mistress has spoken lol.

    Just went down stairs to do a little job and one of my beds is starting to do a walk out. They did it last night too. I need to reduce the numbers in that particlar tub but I am out of space. I took 1500 out of it today hoping that would help but apparently it is not enough. My Africans were looking to make tracks too so I think I best buy some more tubs asap. I have had a couple of sales lately where people have asked for 2,000 and have ended up with double that for the same price as I try to move a few out. I have put a hold on breeding the Reds till I clear some more stock. Checking my incubation beds today and they are absolutely packed with tiny worms which will all need more space in about 4 weeks time.

    I think my new management system is working too well. Sales have picked up a bit but not as fast as the numbers coming up need it to be.

    Brian;

    I'm really pleased that the new system is working so well. I should be finished my first read-through tonight. With rebuilding my garden and other damages around here,after the storm I've been a little swamped. Jim Hunt tells me my "garden" worms are European night crawlers. I ran accross some today in the garden that were at least 20cm and almost as fat as a pencil. They were working in my compost pile. Made me want to go fishing. I keep saying I'm going to take some time off for that butnever do. It just now occured to me that I haven't drowned a worm in more than 5 years. TOMORROW!!! Come rain or come shine, that ol' fishin' hole's gonna be mine. I'll sit on the bank, or a chair if it's wet. A rod in my hands. My ol' Shakespere, you bet. Tie on a new hook on my brand new line. Reach down in that old bait box of mine. I've got the best bait money can't buy. I raised it myself from a wee little fry....But now a feelin's done come over me. There's a tear in my eye and it's so hard to see. And the worm has stopped fighting. Its as if he knows I can't impale him. I'm not one of those. But I came to fish. That much is for sure. Now where the heck did I put that lure? lol

    Coome on Ben, is there any FISH? I am glad you got Jim Hunt on here and over at the Worm Expert. Seems like he knows his stuff and we can pick his brains.

    That bed that was doing the runner wasn't as packed as the other beds so I don't know why it was doing the walk out. The Africans I just split into two beds yesterday as it wasn't worth screening for cocoons. I used the areated manure to top them up. I kept the worms and their original bedding at one end and added the new manure to the other end. That why they can move into the new manure at their own pace and are less likely to wander off. I checked today and they are into the new manure. The weather has been slightly warmer here so I am hoping they will start breeding.

    Tonight I went through a couple of Grower beds with the Lumbricus rubellus and there was some good size worms in there. I picked a heap of them out and put into a breeder bed. Not long now I hope and I can put some signs up at the Bait and Tackle shops. Eco I might be able to afford a second wife then lol
