    Default Those Poor Zombie Ants...

I just came across this on another site when reading about microbes in the soil from a link here. Tropical carpenter ants get infected by a fungus and get turned into zombies!

After reading this, it makes M. Night Shyamalans movie "The Happening" all the more creepy.

Scary! Might this be our problem?
This behaviour of infected ants is essentially an extended phenotype of the fungus (fungal behaviour through the ant's body) as non-infected ants never behave in this way."
