Aruba’s Department of Agriculture, Husbandry & Fisheries (L.V.V.) has partnered with the Fundacion Aruba Consciente and its founder, Urvin Leest, to organize a week of seminars and workshops teaching permaculture. Permaculture is a holistic approach which recognizes that everything, especially humans and the environment, are interconnected and must be viewed as a complete system. There is a heavy emphasis on the utilization of locally available, affordable, and appropriate technologies; such technologies and methods must absolutely be environmentally friendly and sustainable. It brings together disciplines relating to food, shelter, energy, water, waste management, economics and social sciences.
