Seriously, you were helping, and much appreciated. But I just spent close to $50 and someone above is suggesting I send 1/10 out for $5 including postage when postage alone is $5. That doesn't cover my costs and as I was taking offense I figured I should include a bit for handling/my time too. That's hardly an egregious corporate profit. Aim your sights a bit higher.

Anyway, I'm happy to send 220 seeds within Australia (that's 1/10th for the auditors of my business ethics out there) for $10 which just covers my costs.

Hi permasculptor, I have just started a food forest and I would really appreciate some help with leuceana seeds if you still have them available, I only need about 20 seeds. I have a cover crop of cowpea and lupin just breaking through now but I have not been able to source leuceana anywhere.

For what its worth, leucaena is an aggressive environmental weed.

A lot of people seem to use it as a good nitrogen fixing plant though. I figured if your using it as a chop and drop species then you can keep it small and not let it spread. Any other opinions or advice on this would be much appreciated.

For "hawkypork's" assertion to be of any value, s/he would have to include references and name specific bioregions plus soil and flora conditions. There are very few plants that actually cause trouble by reducing biodiversity in healthy ecosystems on healthy soil.

That said even if my site climate and conditions caused Leucaena to behave like a "weed", I might still choose to plant it because:

1) it's forgiving and fast growing - producing much needed biomass for the soil microbes
2) it's a nitrogen fixer - again feeding the soil
3) it can be used as cattle fodder

That's quite a heavy list of benefits.

Anyway, if you PM me your address and details I'll be happy to post you 20 seeds, dusted with proper innoculant even! Bigger requests I'd need you to pay postage but 20 will fit in a standard envelope...
