- Hello I am new to the forum. I live in south Georgia in the USA. I first read the word Permaculture a few weeks ago. It turns out that I'm doing some things right, by what I can find on the web and youtube videos. I have a decent sized garden, for in town, 1000ish square feet and have 5 types of berries, 3 types of grapes, and 7 types of fruit trees growing, more than 1 of each. My garden is a deep mulch, no till style with some companion planting and 4' wide rows with 2' wide walk ways.
I have not taken any courses on permaculture and I haven't got any books yet either. Most subjects you can find plenty of information online to help decide what to buy, but not permaculture. I have found a few websites/blogs that follow a design, but little that describe the concepts. I am sure that I will eventually buy the books and maybe even attend some of the courses (if there are any in the south east US). But I joined to find out more about design concepts and some more of the many great ideas that I have found so far.
A little back ground I grew up on a small farm. I have a degree in Architecture. I spent 4 years living in Alaska, so even though I live in a hot climate now I am familiar with cold weather too. I know construction and enjoy building. and I live in a city that does not currently allow "agricultural animals" like chickens, ducks, or anything bigger.
I have a blog that I follow my garden with: http://wouldieatitagainfoodblog.blogspot.com/
