Concerning Permaculture in Louisiana, after Katrina Goeff Lawton and a Carolyn (a teacher I met at the P. Conference I attended in Sydney, NSW in 2008 ) set up Permaculture gardens in Homer, La, northwest of Ruston. Maybe if you contact someone up there you can get a lead on Permies in the area.

Your name intrigued me. I had to look. I'm Louisiana born and bred but from above the French line. I'm from Alexandria and now live in northwest Arkansas, USA, on a small mountain in the Ozarks in the middle of the woods. I keep telling my family if they need it I know where there's higher ground. I am doing the "GREAT OZARK CITRUS EXPERIMENT." I picked up four trees in Plaquamine Parrish a year ago and have them in the ground in my passive solar greenhouse. All four died back to the ground in our unusually harsh winter but have all come back. My two Kumquats bloomed and now have tiny fruit all over but the Red Naval Orange and the Satsuma did not bloom this year. I'm thinking Kumquats may be hardier and that the other trees may need to be older (again) to bloom and bare even though they had blooms on them when I bought them.
