    Hello Speedy,
    will track down pic. Only 3inches x 2 inches. Will scan and send sometime this week. Mud mixed with wet cowshit was chucked on the outside after the stack was made.

    Any chance of posting that pic of your grandfather on the corn silage stack?
    I'd love to see it.
    I've just located some old maize varieties that I'll be growing out this year to save seed
    ...if I can find enough isolated plots I'll try to grow them all out (about 8 varieties)
    Thanks for the info re. corn culture.
    I'll take that on and also apply some of the trad. Mesoamerican polycropping methods/species.
    still a bit cold here yet, but soon ok to go.
