this is all happening in a place not so very diferent from central australia, central texas
I am trying to build a multi level aquculture project that is profitable on a small scale, has low labor input, and has a diverse variety of products that are harvested in diferent seasons.
to this point I have developed farming systems for the following animals
1. Pomecea genera snails, (apple snails)
2. Bull frog (experimental)
3. two local species of soft shelled turtle
I also plan to add fresh water prawn and catfish to this mix.
the way this works is that all of these species can be cultured in shallow ponds. all but the turtle can be combined together in a pond for at least some part of their life cycle. many of these animals can be fed the same food source, (catfish food, automatically fed).
I would be interested in anyone who can think of another animal that might fit with this group, or any management ideas.
thanks
