Hi everone how are we all today?

This is to cover yesterdays stuff up post...Trouble is, i think quicker then i type. and if in a hurry to post i forget to check what ive written....

Suffice to say, that the gist of it was about... Roosters..Ive moved my breeders back home after their holiday to club med chook....My rooster was getting a bit of stick from his grandad, and decided to bring them home again...I missed them too, weeds( oops food was getting to much)
to handle past my ankles lol...So to stop his hassels i bought him home with 5 of his girls for happy company...Well the rooster from next door, originally mine decided to tell him to piss off from his new garden.
Big whitey being bigger said no way it was his first ...so they fought ,and fought, and a bit more fighting, ended with em both covered smeared in blood. My poor rooster was back for rest and re coop eration, not more fights.i eventually caught the next doors rooster and exiled him.
.I dropped him off last night a kilometre away...Big white is now gingerly looking out for him and still a bit nervous but with 6 girls to keep him busy, hell get over it for sure...

The two pictures show whitey last week getting over the hassles at club med for chooks...2 nd is the day after coming home he dont look to bad does he better then he is ...you should see the other one lol. i wont post his pics, and he was a "on points " winner....

As a mere male who likes Women im sooooo glad im not a rooster, and Im glad that the human race has evolved just a bit from this "normal" male/male interaction.....

Id better end, as my fisherman friend joel will be wanting to post my pics for me..... thanx again joel....

Hope you can read this ok Tam.....

The reason my chooks were on holidays, is because I dont like to have all my chooks, pooping everywhere 24/7, afraid it may over feed/fertilize etc, my ground you hear sometimes about a build up of excess nutrients blah, blah, blah etc...so i do every so often.gives my garden, time to rest or just regenerate..This year it also included a bit or adjistment out at a freind who needed a huge pile of weeds in his vegie patch removing, and a general all purpose clean and destroying of bugs........A sort of permacultures Weed n Feed.....After my problems with whitey the wooster ill need to think it over a bit next time.I feel guilty about his problems since Ive moved him so much.....gee am i going soft or stupid :( No damage to the roosters) that bit of healing wont fix.ill photo him in a week i just know hell surprise us all..Did you see him under my mullberry trees....Does anyone hear understand rooster?

Im sure all his cock a doodle doos are diferent. but any ideas from the gallery???

So it's sort of like 'rent a chook'. What a good idea.

Yes, too much chook (cow, horse, etc) poo will make the ground sour, and that's when you get a lot of WEEDS (your favorite subject  ) invading. You see it particularly in horse paddocks that have been overgrazed and haven't been rested for a while, and where the soil has become compacted. Typical riding school scenario, low budget, usually on leased land battling to make a quid. You'll all of a sudden start getting things sprouting which you've never had before. I wouldn't mind betting that the weed seeds have been lying around dormant just waiting for the conditions to be right, before rearing their ugly head.

It can be re adjusted by topdressing with lime, but top dressing shouldn't really be carried out unless a soil analysis is carried out. Fine if you're farming a large area, but a bit ridiculous on a small scale. My dad, who's of the old school, (and there's a lot to be said of blokes like him) would always add manure, then sprinkle a bit of lime or dolomite. Completely unscientific, Dad just adds a sprinkle of this to a couple'a shovel full o' that.

Tezza, do you charge a fee for your 'rent a chook' service? Do they get to keep the eggs? Sounds like a great community arrangement!

Re the roosters, I wouln't have a clue what they're trying to say but I am aware that once they've been separated, they will fight when you put them back together. Especially 2 dominant types. If you've got a heap of cockerells, sometimes putting an older dominant rooster can curb any bickering, but when they're clearly equal on size, fitness, experience and assertiveness, it can be a real problem if they're all running together.
