Somebody buy this tank!!! It says winning bidder will buy as they are moving and can't take it with them....even if you needed to get it transported it'd still be a cheap tank..come on all you New South Welshmen, a bargain going begging!

If I still lived on Dangar Island I would buy it as it's very close to there, shame I moved 7 hours drive south really.....

Hey Tully... Yup that Tank is near me... However I have a friend here who is a plumber and he collects tanks from the farms etc... So when I do get my litle piece of land I have tanks for nuffin.. YAY
If someone wants me to go get that one and hold onto it though,, more than happy to... Warrack is only 30mins drive from home, and we have a store there as well so I'm there most weeks doing stuff..

oohh, tempting offer Dan tyvm !
Can you ask your plumber mate what that tank'd retail for approx. please?

When you get those tanks Dan, you can renew them , if they're dodgy, by rendering the inside with my favourite product..yes, concrete!

so cement render will stick to plastic? I didn't know that. This may be something that I can use then.

Dawn , Not to sure that Tully's solution is for you...
Your best bet is using something like selly's all clear, or polly resign of some sort. Like Arldite..

Everyone, settle down.
Don't you know the way to get a bargain on eBay is to wait til the last 15 seconds to bid, then place your absolute HIGHEST possible bin in. It gives no one the opportunity to better theirs.
Sooooooo be patient, put it in your watched items, set the alarm on your mobile for 30 minutes prior to the auction ending, then open and refresh regularly until you're ready to bid.
Also, synchronise your digital watch to the official eBay time available at the bottom of the eBay screen, for the time of clicking, and also, time how long your pages take to load, in seconds, for the particular time of day the auction's ending. (to take into account variations in internet traffic congestion.
If the time comes and your server's down, (yes, it's happened to me - I still won the item) make sure you have a list of alternative servers your can dial up to at the last minute. Even if it's a long distance call, if you're just on for the last 2 minutes, it won't cost that much.
Happy bidding, :D

It people like you , Tam, that kill me...... :) :)
I don't know how many times right at the start of my eBay experience I would get out bidded right at the last minute... Now I am on it like a fly to compost.

What was cheeky >?>?.. Are you looking at buying it ? I was told that if you could get it for under $200 it would be a bargin.. But you have to make sure that it is good to go with no holes.. Poly tanks are far better, if you can pick them up cheap..
What do you need the tank for ? If you are thinking of it for aquaponics.. I had the brain surge the other day.. Just north and east of you are rock outcrops every where... And I'm sure a local farmer wouldn't mind letting anyone taking acouple thousand.., Either that or grab from the road side as , they are everywhere. I was going to make a rock pool, (with the aid of Tully's Fave concrete) Not only would it work, it would look nice to...

Oh yeah, and one more thing, if more than one of you are planning on bidding, work it out between yourselves who's willing to pay the highest price so you don't end up bidding against one another, pushing the price up.

Tam, I've won stuff like that....at the last minute, but you gotta be careful of those with the auto bid program thingy, they'll get ya! :D
My sister is our family Queen of Ebay. Her name is Deb so I call it DBay :D
She has a little shop and all. I'm hopeless with it cos it's all too slow with my connection and I get the irrits with it and close it.
Dan, I asked if for your fuel paid and some nice chooks would you bring it to here as we don't have a trailer... bit cheeky I thought.
I'd want it for a water tank, but I don't like that it's sitting on the ground. The arse could fall out of it when you go to move it... :(
Yes, the rock idea is a good one. An excellent one actually and don't think I don't eye those rocks off each and everytime I drive to town...the old brain starts tickin' over. But I haven't even given a thought to aquaponics yet mate. I thought when we get a dam we could grow fish in it and food round the edges...gotta get the dam first though.

I could get it to ya, no worries.. I got "DOT" (Dirty old Truck) cruiser ute
Maybe when you get the channel to feed the folly you could rock the edges..
I love all those rocks, around here is very flat (except for the grampians in the south) and there is lots of dirt. Been very tempted to go poaching rocks in the national park... But no doubt I'll do a foofa trying to lift to heavy and get caught... The dirt people here in town charge a forture for rocks... I don't really get it :boxing:

Just think Tully, if it wasn't for technology (computer) you would be out the back digging the dam by hand.. WOW you guys would fill a dam pretty easy down there no ? Do you have much catchment area ? What are you going to use the dam for ?

Tully, eBay ALWAYS auto bids. That's what most people don't realise. Have you noticed that you'll be outbid by .50c and think, WHAT?!! That's why you need to place your bid of the highest you're prepared to pay for the item. Even if it's sitting at .99c, and you think, Gee, I'd love to get it for a couple of dollars, but, when you're bidding at the last minute, there's no second chance to up your bid. The advantage is that you haven't shown your hand and therefore, any competitive bidders have no idea that you're sitting there ready to pounce.
So, you've seen your item and it's sitting at the starting bid of .99c with no bids. You decide that realistically, if you were pushed, you'd be prepared to pay, say, $100.00. Ok, so when it's 15 seconds to go, or 25 if you have a slow connection, you place a bid of $101.22, even if it's still at .99c. Bidding ends, and there's no other bids so you get the item for .99c. If there have been other bids, A may have put $5, B may have put $8 and C may have put $10. Well the $10 bid's obviously going to hold the highest bid, but not at $10, but at $8.50. So you see $8.50 on the screen and you think, great, I'll bid $9.00 without realising that the $8.50 bidder's actually put a maximum bid of $10.00, so you've already been outbid and if you've left it til the last, you lose. If you'd put $30.00 instead, you'll get the item for $10.50, even though you were willing to pay $100.00.
EBay actually bids for you in set increments, but keeps your maximum bid hidden.
Tam
i was wondering if we might have been bidding against each other everytime a fowlers vacola came up for auction.

So it way YOU, Widgeenut! Most probably. I have bought a few items, and missed out on a few items too. I noticed that there's another 'Preserving with Fowlers Vacola' book listed, and it's already over $20. One went a while ago for over $50. How ridiculous! I got mine for about $19. I've bought 2 units, one simply natural and one stovetop, and the book. But I have missed out on a few items too although I can't exactly remember what they were. I think it's important to be realistic in one's maximum bid and not get carried away. Since that numskull paid over $50 for their book, there's been numerous listed, almost all going for under $20.
You'll laugh at this. The night I bought my book, I realised after the bidding had ended that I'd been bidding against my very good friend who I'd only just that day, had lunch with.
From then on, I always check let her know what I'm watching, if I think she'd be interested in it, and visa versa, so we don't end up bidding against one another again. If I hadn't have bidded on that book, she ed out, it wasn't that great anyway. Not something I'd normally be prepared to pay nearly $20 for, plus the postage. I've found more information on preserving on these forums than any of the 3 publications I have from Fowlers Vacola!
A bit off the point that last bit, but at least we're keeping the thread going.

So who bought the tank for $103. Just shows you can get a good buy on ebay - if only it was handy to my location. A bit over 1 cent per litre.
