Don't know where to start! So well, I am really excited about permaculture for about a year or so now and looking very much forward to getting my hands into the dirt. I am living in Brussels at the moment, after having travelled extensively and looking now into integrating my dreams into a plan on how to go about it.

I realise this forum is visited more by people from the other side of the globe but since permaculture pioneers abound in Australia that can't be a bad thing :-)

I am working at the moment on setting up an Ecovillage with friends in Turkey. Much has been done before we met and much more will have to be done. The next step for us will be to host a PDC and design the plot coherently. Am very excited about this all! Looking forward to it.
Cheers,
Bisous from Brussels

Hi Bisous - re your intentions for Turkey, you may find it beneficial to somehow collaborate with PRI Turkey perhaps:

Hello Bisous,

Welcome! I am new as well.
We are neighbours, I live in Nederland. Have you been to a PDC course yet? I'm looking for one that I can follow during summer holiday, preferably not too far away. If you know one, I'm happy to hear!

Greetings, Marijtje

Hi and Welcome

What is an ecovillage? I can make up a halfway credible explanation but i am curious as to how you would describe it.
Turkey is great. I spent 7 months there many moons ago. Which part are you located? And how much land do you have?

Is your name really Bisous? Kisses?

Thxs Craig, fantastic! Will contact them to see how we can collaborate!

First of all we need to find a teacher that can teach the PDC on our premises, any tipps on how to go about with that?

This is all very exciting!
Greetings from Brussels,
Nettrice

ps: Bisous indeed means kisses ;-)

Hey Sunburn, well indeed my name is not Bisous, just wanted to send some to oz from Belgium ;-)

My favorite description of an ecovillage goes something like: "An ecovillage is a Human scale full-featured settlement in which human activities are harmlessly integarted into the natural world in a way that is supportive of healthy human development and can be successfullly continued into the indefinite future." What's yours?

Basically we plan to attempt an experiement and showcase in sustainability, hoping to act as a teaching centre for the surrounding bioregion, teaching permaculture and helping convert to organic agriculture. I'm not one of the permanent residents but helping to coordinate the whole thing and going once in a while.

We will have our first eco-building workshop, teaching Superadobe earthbag construction starting on September 17th , with lots more to follow :-) --> now it's my job to spread the word :-)

We are located south of Antalya, at the Olympos coast. Have you been there? Not sure how big the land is exactly, its huge, will let you know when I have figures...
Have a good day, what are you up to these days?
Cheers,
Nettrice

Hey Marijtje,

Neighbours indeed! Well unfortunately me neither, didnt take my PDC yet, its about a year that I'm itching to do one! Hoping to take it in Turkey when the first course is held at our place.
A good place to check for courses is: http://www.permaculture.org.uk/education/course-listing

do you or anybody else in this forum have any other links you can recommend for somebody looking for a PDC?
Take care,
Tot laters,
Nettrice

Hi Nettrice,
Great to hear about your project in Turkey. I'm writing on behalf of PRI Turkey (http://permacultureturkey.org/). We are located in Izmir, Bayindir and sharing the place with an eco-village project named Marmaric (http://marmaric.org/)...
We will be happy to be in touch with you and the residents of your eco-villlage.

And the great news is: Bill Mollison and Geoff Lawton will be giving a PDC in Istanbul this November. The details will be on our website as well as PRI Australia website in a few days.

Greetings from Turkey,
Yasin.
