Just to say hi from Serbia. Still new to this "new" technology. So I will just read my books I got about permaculture and lurk on this forum for interesting stuff. Hope I start my own project this autumn in my backyard.
Btw. I just saw one interesting video about creating compost (its mix about technology and how its patented) can someone tell me rules about linking interesting stuff or I have to read rules :P
Welcome, spirodj! Good to have a permie from the Balkans, are there any other people in your region that are interested in permaculture? I'm sure you could do quite a lot in your little backyard.
As far as I know, link away! As long as the links are relevant I don't see why anyone would have a problem. But I guess the moderators would know for sure.

Permaculture is almost unknow in Serbia... Even organic agriculture is in early stages. There is around (only) 100.000 acres of land using natural organic manure. Its estimated that 1.000.000 acres can be used now for organic agriculture and around 500.000 transformed to organic use in couple of years. there is also 750.000 acres of unused agriculture land (orchards getting wild etc etc, well maybe that's better from intensive industrial agriculture). 200 villages are totally empty. Its all because government ignorance and no care for agriculture. They subsidies something one year second they stop. Small, farmers peasant are losing money if they work land, cheap imports of food are killing them.
Climate here is continental semi-continental north. So winters around -3 - 0 summers from 30-38 Celsius, mild autumn and spring.
Best land in Vojvodina with humus soil is around goes 10-20.000 euroes per acre :))))) In rural parts central south serbia you can get really cheap maybe for 1.000 euros per acre (this is good land for permaculture bat very hard for normal intensive agriculture). Houses in country side goes really cheap even new ones from 5k euros to 20-25k really big with all included.
Money is here problem ppl dont have money for life 20-30% unemployed rate.
Huh I talk to much and work lill :P
P.s. Thinking to start with bioreactor this autumn to worm house and in spring to use it for compost :))) My mother was like Aaaaaa... Afraid of new things ppl are...

Really interesting spiro. But sad too. Things will change for the better one day. Maybe you can promote permaculture there to others down the track. If people are unemployed its a wonder they don't stay on the land to farm it for themselves even, subsistently.
I'm curious about the video now. If you are not allowed to link it maybe you can explain the twist it contains.

Linking to interesting stuff (related to or relating to Permaculture is desirable but not required) is perfectly alright. We like credit to fall where it belongs and links (instead of copy/paste) ensure proper credit is given.
