Hi all.

My name is Mick; I live in Adelaide. I guess that I am a bit of a suppressed and frustrated free-thinker, caught up in a system that I question daily.

My goal is to start focusing my energies on self-sufficiency, so that I can reduce my reliance on the hand that feeds, but also beats me. I lack the drive for money/status/materialism that everyone around me seems to thrive on. It's time to start living by my ideals, than succumbing to societal pressure and being stressed-out all the time.

In the near future, I'd love to just live off-of-the-grid, where I can forget about "norms" and just have a nice little rural setup incorporating low-impact technology... but baby-steps as they say.

Hope to learn a few things, and get involved in time.

Welcome broken cog
As I was trying to say elsewhere - try to be kind to yourself and to those around you. Permaculture to me is about good design and about living softly on this earth and we need to love ourselves and each other.
Baby steps are a way to do this but be assured that if you push just a little then the transition to a simpler life can go quite rapidly and you can discover that the scary bits sort themselves out and you do not really "need" the things you thught may be essential

P&L (thanks Marko)

Hi Mick, It's great that you found your way here. I recognise a lot of what you said, I used to feel a lot of those feelings.

There is only one way to eat an elephant - one bite at a time.
