A group of enthusiastic green thumbs has set up camp at The Cottage, a branch of the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre. They're using organic gardening and permaculture techniques to grow herbs, fruit and vegetables.
It's a part of Transition Town Hervey Bay, a scheme to make the Fraser Coast a more sustainable place to live.
If you'd like to learn more, Gardening Australia's Jerry Coleby-Williams will be part of a Transition Town information session on seed collection and swapping on Saturday, March 27 at the lecture theatre at USQ, Old Maryborough Road, from 10:30am. Entry is $2.
