Hi,

My name is Ram and I'm just learning about permaculture. I found this site linked from David holmgren's site.

I am yet to do a PDC, and know nothing about gardening, growing or any such things. I have been a city boy most of my life. I moved to Lismore, NSW a few years ago with the fresh air and a backyard of my own I have re-ignited my interest in permaculture again.

My backyard is N/E facing and all lawn :-( with a huge eucalyptus tree in one corner which drops leaves over most of the backyard.

I've been composting and planting organic seedlings in a small vegie patch running along the back wall of the house. But i really want to get started on a more productive permaculture based system.

I'm reading the Permaculture Design Manual slowly and I have a few other permaculture books.

I'm hoping to just get started and learn along the way. Oh BTW i have two children under 6 and wold love to expose them to food growing by example (ie. Me doing it). We walked the local community garden the other day and they loved looking at all the food growing :-).

I look forward to connecting with a few like minded spirits and chewing the fat about permaculture.

G'day Ram, welcome to the PRI Forum.

Plenty of permies up your way (I have a nephew who lives in Lismore, and each time I visit that area I come away with a feeling of renewed enthusiasm).

The big Eucalypt should prove a challenge.

Don't forget, it's not just about you ("Me") "doing it", the children will love to be involved at every stage of the journey.

The 'search' facility (top right hand corner) is a great tool, the use of the same should answer many initial questions that you may have.

Glad to learn that you came here via Holmgren's website - much to read and learn from there, too!

Good luck with it, and don't forget to keep us up to date with the journey that your family (and by default, your neighbourhood) are embarking upon.
