Albums, PMs, and Notifications

Hi All,

Purplepear pointed out that we now have an "album" feature where we can post our pics! Awesome!! Make sure to check the "public" box when posting so everyone can enjoy. A great feature to complement Michaelangelica's blog posting idea. Looking forward to seeing pics of your activities!

I've also been noticing the difference between PMs (private messages) and Notifications. I'm not sure if you get a notification when you receive a new PM or not, but messages posted using the notification feature definitely don't show up in your PM inbox.

Once I understand this better we can put together a quick "how-to" to keep things straight. If you have a better understanding of this than I do please post your instructions here, as with my dial-up speed internet connection moving around on the board is sometimes quite frustrating. http://forums.permaculture.org.au/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

OK, I'm beginning to catch on ...

When I click on a forum member's name, I go to their profile "site". From there I may send them a message, but it is a public message that will be seen by anyone visiting the member's profile.

If I click on "Private Messages" at the top left of the screen will find my inbox and "private" message screen.

When I am replying to a forum thread, a "Quick reply" will not provide any smileys, but I can select "Go Advanced" and get a partially populated smiley palette.

But the smileys don't work for me in "Advanced", nor does the insert pics function. I had to put in the code manually and it doesn't work even then. Guess it's time to solicit Murray's help ... = /
