Thanks to the team for getting us back online :-) Any chance we could have a thread telling us what is going on? It would be helpful to know what has happened, and if more changes are in store.
Edited:
I can't find a way to delete this post, so am editing it. I see Murray has posted an explanation about what happened here:

hey everyone - glad to help. the old database was severely screwed up / hacked i believe and it took us most of the week to locate a version of the backup that wasn't compromised. we came so very close to losing 18 months of posts.
It'd be nice to have an update at some point. Are we staying with the new forum system? Can we get rid of the rankings? Can we get Murray and co something special for Christmas?
:-)
thanks,
pebble

Hi Pebble (and everyone else too!)
Thanks for starting this thread. There's lots going on .... mainly Murray is working to identify bugs with this new system and get everything straightened away. Many thanks to Murray and his team in getting us back up and running again in the face of so many obstacles!
If anyone is having difficulties logging in with their old usernames and passwords, please let us know, either by PM or by posting in this thread.
If you can't log into the forum at all, try re-registering with a new (temporary) username so you can post to let us know and we'll get you squared away.
Thank you all for your patience.
And Happy Solstice!!
Bill

Thought I'd post this here instead of starting a new thread.
The 'new posts' link is broken: http://forums.permaculture.org.au/search.php?do=getnew&contenttype=vBForum_Post
Was working up until today. It now goes to a page with this error message on it:
vBulletin Message
Could not find phrase 'searchnoresults_getnew_Items'.

I think that's the message I get when there aren't any new posts.

Well after weeks and weeks of not being able to access I've finally managed to log in
The new site design looks horrible compared to the old one, and other sites out there, it's very clinical, sterile and conservative
Very sorry to see that we are now all 'ranked' - could have sworn that a majority of posters were against this system?
What has happened to all the old posts?
cheers
Just noticed also we now have the 'friend' option too, dear god, these sorts of online designations are pathetic, think I'll be turning to other sites in future
I'm sure you'll get used to it.

This is the new program we won't be going back to the old one too many problems.
I think this program will be better once we get used to it
Moderators are also having problems working out the new space.
I am so desperate I am reading the instructions. :)
We should have everything worked out in a few weeks.
You could 'bone up' on the features of the program here:
