PMI What's a permablitz?

According to "Costa" last night it was invented by the guys at VEG in Melbourne though I can remember doing several at least ten years ago. It is a working bee to establish a garden for someone and people get together to help and also to learn.

that's right!

it's like backyard blitz (that old TV show) but the yard is blitzed with a permaculture in mind.
all you need is a minimum of two people working in a yard (preferably one has done a PDC) to make it a more sustainable productive place. And you have yourself a permablitz.

BUT we can get yards cranking with LOTS of people, and music and food and workshops (skill shares) etc.

of course you can come are you an adelaide dweller!?.
not sure of any dates yet, just scoping out backyards, getting some designers, and 'rallying some troops' for action etc.

i've been doing some permablitzing this week with myself and one other.

but ultimately, i think, the real juicey fun happens when there is a whole bunch of people.

mmmm interesting... it looks pretty bare. wordie, like flicker without the photos... ! ha

Adelaide is lovely, if not just a bit slow and conservative... but there are people chipping away at the good stuff all the time.
there will be many photos.

Is there no Permaculture Group in Adelaide?
I notice on the Meetup site a number who want to join a group.

You may find some recruits here too

You should contact Parks Community Centre (Ferryden park). Many years ago I helped set up a community based system that we called Home Harvest, we essentually started by assissting elderly people to prune/maintain fruit trees and gardens ect. this grew to establishing new gardens, and opening a store selling jams, preserves ect, made by the elderly, the store became a meeting place for community persons of all ages, got the elderly out of their lonely existencs and salvaged a hell of a lot depression year knowlege on sustainability. and lets face it mixing the ages can only be a good thing.By the time I left this venture it had become involved with a local food co-op on barter system thus improving food options/affordability to low incme members of the community.

Making me homesick for Adelaide, and now I'll have to contact them again and see if it's still going.
