Perenial or self resowing irrigated cattle fodder

I am planning a 5-6 acre paddock of irrrigated permanent cattle feed.
I am in South Burnet with ample frost.
I want summer and winter species that are either perenial or self resowing.
So far the list is comfrey, lucerne and amaranth.
I am checking plantain andd chickory.
Winter dominant species info would be appreciated.
As well as info on the other species above, info on other viable species, companions and culture in the above situation.
The paddock has a flood bypass running through it and the soil is best described as clay loam I think.

out of interest, how will you plant comfrey on such a large scale.

ps. where are you putting the cow or cattle when the plants are setting seed. you cannot maintain year round grazing unless you only have a couple of poddies.

Seems to me you could try broadcasting many five mm pieces of root then plow it when it grows to have it spread.
Remember it will need the moisture and watch out for eco fascists when spreading exotics like comfrey.
