lantanna eradication

When I brought the 200 acres , it was riddled with lantanna. My neighbours advised me to burn it off consecutive years to wipe it out. i would like to hear from others who have had success with eradicaing this plant

if you are after cleared land goats work. if you are re foresting the land you can just leave it as it provides valuable cover for small birds and native trees will eventually out compete it.

Bill Mollison reckons that chucking a couple of chokos into the middle of each lantana clump helps. The chokos grow quickly, and will eventually cover the lantana, smothering it and killing it. I've never tried it, though.

well i like that idea. I d rather have chokos than lantanna. worth a try..

Buy a chipper, then it's a source of mulch and not a weed. :D I just back over them with my tractor slasher that way you push over the tree and the slasher smashes it up. I try and do it as they flower and not seed.

If you remove lantana you have to put something back in it's place, lantana is there for a reason.
