G'day
we live in Suburbia-by-the-Beach, on the usual suburban 1/4 acre. We have fruit trees and veggie plots and have just made a chook tractor to accommodate first ever chooks to arrive next week (Ancona and Andalusian) - which I am very excited about, tho' a complete novice chook wise, my husband had them as a kid. Live with my octegenarian Dad and 6 yr old son too.
Did a PDC at the Food Forest SA, a few years back, its great to find a permie site, look forward to getting to know it.
cheers
Jill

Well no-ne's said hello to you yet Jill, so I'm gunna - "hello" :D
You'll find there's not alot in here from SA. But there's me, yep I am from SA, just moved from the Riverland to Mt Gambier. (yes folks to anyone who remembers me I didn't quite make it to Tassie) We have 5 acres and we are doing the fruit growing thing, vegi's, animals and chooks. We are finding it alot easier here than on our other property where we were constantly battling with the dry/hot conditions.
Have you got your chooks yet? How are they going?

Howdy You'll,
I have been off the air for some time now , back in the land of the living,
I have just re connected my laptop to the net now that i live in a house with electricity, :D
Long story short i purchased mallee SA land , with a small cabin , bit over a year ago to start a building project,
As we all know things change, like my employment hours increased so i decided to relocate closer to work. :(
Teela I followed your Tassie dreams way back when, i was keen to see how you got on and it looks like you got close :? ,
I should have listened to your advice and tried somewhere else, i couldn't get over the dust.
Mt Gambier is very nice has good rainfail,
I have ended up in a cool little spot in Eden Valley, loads of full rainwater tanks on the property, will increase some roof area with a workshop/garage to assist in the rain water harvesting, and back into the vegie garden asap, working in the barossa still, I've thrown the office job in aswell, :butthead: back on the tools in the coming weeks, 8)
Gday,
we are from SA as well - down south!
we have just got 2 chickens a few months back and im about to start building the raised veggie beds. trying to turn out little plot (700sqm or so) into something productive.
Do you think the PDC was any good? im thinking i need to do something... :? keep the brain cells learning
This forum seems a little slow though, but the more people the better.
