We are a homeless kids shelter on the border between Myanmar and Thailand in Mae Sot, Tak Province. We have 20 children, 7 adults, and rent an 18 acre farm where we hope to relocate and live permanently. We invite volunteers who want to stay, help us with the kids, teach or learn about permaculture, for short-term or long. Please read our website and see if you're interested.

Hi, my name is Jodie and I volunteered at the shelter for 3 weeks in July/August this year. I had a fantastic time and was able to spend many days swimming with the kids, riding bikes and learning English through singing together. I loved seeing how many games could be played with simple toys like rubber bands and how every edible plant we walked by was known! These kids have so much love to give and will welcome you like you are a movie star. If anyone is thinking about volunteering I can highly recommend a visit to this shelter. Dhane is doing wonderful things in Thailand for these Burmese kids and I can guarantee a visit will leave you inspired! :)
God Bless

I remember watching 60 minutes about a young Australian girl who left her studies to adopt young kids a few years ago. She was about 21 years old and the most inspiring person I have ever watched. Very similar circumstances to what you describe. My best wishes to yourself and the kids. I have been to Thailand and I would love to return, but I am unable at the present. ( Currently sole parenting a new born )
