Yes, another new member ............I'm from a place near Warburton, in Victoria.

We ( me and my 2kids), don't yet live on acreage........in my dream self-built strawbale house. We currently live in suburubia, where I am trying to grow as much of my own food as possible.

I hand wash our clothes to save heaps of water and as an added bonus, I find it gets clothes cleaner, with out having to use chemical nasties.

We are still in the whee beginnings of our perma-culturish experience. I still have a lot of space to plant lower growing food plants. Have plenty of Fruit trees and some fruiting shrubs and vines. Nothing is uniform and I have been planting things here and there according to their drainage/sun requirements. I am learning as I go.

I am making the most of what space I do have. When winter arrives, and the ground softens enough to get a spade into again.... I will do some more planting.

I don't know what to do about the grass at the front of my house.....(nature strip/verge). I detest lawns.........but if I plant something on it.....it will most likely be killed by neighbourhood kids....whose parents couldn't care less about their behaviour.

g'day emerald ember,

welcome aboard.

great to see someone working outside their comfort zone to save water, should be more of it we us a twin tub washer which boils down to 30 litres of water used per load of washing, you'd be surprised at how many turn their noses up at even going to the extent.

Invite the kids to help build a veg garden and let them take some produce home. It can turn their whole life around. I see them as new permies
