Hi all, my name is Gail and I am fairly new to this sort of stuff so please be patient with me. I also visit a couple of other sites and I recognise a few names - good to see you all again.
My partner and I are currently living in Humpty Doo but we have bought a property in the Adelaide River Rural area and are setting it up from scratch and trying to implement permaculture and organic ideals. Bit slow going at the moment but it'll all happen eventually. We bought a lovely old elevated house from the 1930's and moved it out there to recyle into our home because I believe this is a more environmentally friendly thing to do (unless you are doing strawbale or similar yourself) and because the design of these old houses is so tropical. After many years of planning and dreaming its all coming together now and I look forward to your company.

Hi Greenfrog, yes not very far from Humpty Doo at all. Are you coming over to live or just visit?

Hi Tropical Rose, coming north to look after grandchildren, will be in Howard Estate for four weeks, sooo looking forward to this trip, have been visiting my daughter's home etc for 13yrs I love the tropics. Lived in Cairns for 4yrs reckon I left my soul there as I consider Cairns/Tablelands region very spiritual & mystical.

Yes there's something about the tropics that gets you in isn't there? I grew up in Adelaide but that's never felt like home, but Darwin felt 'right' from the start and I've been here 20 years now. Cairns would be my next favourite place to live, I thought the surrounding countryside so varied and beautiful.
Have fun with your grandchildren.
