Hi everybody,

Ive just harvested a bumper crop of potatoes and want to plant some of the harvested potatoes in another bed. Do i need to do anything with the potatoes prior to planting them again??? Im not sure if i can just plant them straight away or whether I need to expose them to sunlight for a certain period to green them up first?? Ive left a few outside on a bench in the shade and they still haven't greened up or sprouted.

Hoping your having a great day :)

Precog,

Congrats on the spuds.

My advice would be to eat them all as fast as you can..... :D New potatoes are one of nature's wonders.

Potatoes need to be aged for some considerable time, maybe months, before they will re-shoot. Store a few in a very dark place in the garage and keep an eye on them.

Otherwise get some old potatoes from your greengrocer and start again.

yeh me too reckon you can't beat a steamed in the jacket new spud, even cold from the fridge great for a snack.

then either get some budding taters from a shop or buy some seed spuds from the produce agency and some nurseries.

get them now put them into a dark cool spot i susally use egg cartons to hold them seperate, so the bigger the sprouts they have before you plant them april/may the quicker they grow.
