Hi Murray

Can't say I was originally in favour of splitting the forums but I think the way you did was very cool.

"Usergroups are a powerful feature of phpBB 2.0.0. They allow moderator permissions, private permissions, and any other special user settings to be granted to multiple people. This makes it easy to change settings for a group that has things in common without having to edit each user's individual permissions. It is also possible to make the Group Moderator (controls group membership) someone who is not an administrator, granting power to users without leaving your board's administration panel vulnerable."

so it basically involves giving users moderation powers, etc.. i guess, and special interest or "inner circle" groups.

Also...I noticed the chat directions are gone again.

Myself Id prefere to disscuss Permie stuff then post.Post is cumbersome .Bit like having a chat via letters instead of word of mouth...I think a large amount of the Problems in here, that have made things a bit nasty in cases, betwen the various posters,Could mebe attributable to a miss reading of what was actually said and what we thought we had read...
Im not advocating pitch battles in the chat rooms, but feel that if the chat room was reintroduced,if nothing else it just may speed up the whole process after all we cant all be sat on a computer everyday, waiting for a responce  Maybe you could ask in a Poll question...

this split is as useful as buying toothpaste for my chooks.
link me up baby, oh please.
take out the diehards and it's as inviting as me passing wind after an egg and baked bean breakfast.

toothpaste for chooks? i think it's a winner! 8)

my take: sometimes you just want to bring a link to everyone's attention that may or may not be ontopic, relevant, and will just clutter up the main permaculture thread.

maybe it doesn't work for everyone?
