Hello Everyone,
I have recently made a small herb garden in my suburbane backyard using what I believe to be permaculture principles. I am looking for a book or articles that are written for suburbane dwellers. Can you please help me.
Thank you,
Coral.

Hi Coral,

Welcome to the forum.... I hope you find it helpful.

Not sure if you were after books on permaculture or herbs.... but here's a couple of suggestions.

A good book for permie beginners is 'Introduction to Permaculture' or you can go right up to the Permaculture Design Manual. These and others are available in most bookstores.

As for herbs there are many books so it comes down to how much info you are after.... i just bought one by Isabell Shipard called 'How can I use Herbs in my daily life?'. This is quite detailed in it's information and has over 500 herbs listed.

Good luck and let us know what you find.

Dave

Me Again :D

I might add that permaculture can be applied to balconies, backyards and acerage. Seeing as you have a backyard Zones One and Two of permaculture are mostly applied to backyard situations. I mention this only b/c there are some decent permaculture videos available from libraries where you can visualise what some ppl have done to their backyards.

Try the Global Gardener by Bill Mollison. Robyn Francis has made one for backyards by using a Mandalla pattern, there are others as well..... just thought it might be worthwhile throwing in that suggestion. Othewise you may have permaculture gardens near you that you can visit.

Cheers .... Dave
