Hi,

I just finished my internship at PRI recently and am busy converting my acre into an example site. I have found conflicting information on whether or not rain water tanks should remain sealed from sunlight or if sunlight should be allowed to enter through the hatch.

I have a 45,000 concrete tank that has been sealed ever since I have owned the property - tank companies say it should remain closed from sunlight, and even in Art Ludwig's "Water Storage" this is stated. I remember at the PRI in NSW the tanks were allowed to have some light enter through the hatches.

Could someone please point me in the right direction? Thank you!

This is right that some allow to open the hatches to for the sunlight. But through this the other dust particles and leafs can enter in the tank. So the water can be dirty. Rain Water Tank Adelaide (http://www.enviroroofing.com.au/rain-tanks)
