dealing with NSW rainforest leeches

Hi all,
Does anyone know of a reliable predator to land leeches in mid-north NSW? I've heard ducks eat water leeches but I don't know whether they like land leeches. Geese perhaps?

There's just a few too many around the property for comfort. Especially during the wet season, they come close to the house and water tanks .

rub a cut , squeezed Kaffir lime fruit on your lower legs to prevent them gaining hold.
they hate the oils from it.
A tip from Sri Lanka ;-)

thanks speedy. will try kaffir lime. thought about selling them but i don't think anyone buys land leeches yet. CSIRO is doing research into it so hopefully something will come out of it. 'cause let me tell you, I have supply.

Just walked around in Coffs today and what do you know, 5 mins in, leeches and ticks.

OMG I was just thinking that. They are used a lot in surgery, and other uses by medical professionals world wide.

I'm suprised to hear that the leeches are even present in Coffs itself.Grew up there in north Coffs, a place called Korora Basin, near the fixed speed camera. Semi-rural in nature, creeks and such, maybe 50 year old regrowth in places.

Thinking about buying one of my parent's blocks, 1 hectare with a creek. Funny thing is, I don't think permaculture has got a foothold in the area. Burn piles everywhere.
