Congratulations Linda and Ray!

The map with the photo links is a great idea - I had a lovely tour of your patch of paradise :D It looks lovely and green.

If you need any help with identifing frogs let me know, I'd be more than happy to help.

Cheers,
Fran.

Fantastic Gargun & Lolly! It reminds me of my trip up to the Murray.

How long until you take possesion?

Lolly

Thanks all.. :D

Tam.. having mastered the art of "female persuasion" (gentle NAGGING!!) many years ago, I'm working on bringing the settlement date forward to ASAP.. I figure that if I ring the solicitor and the banker (both male) with a polite enquiry every day we should take possession quite soon.. hehehe.

And no, my darling chocolate Gar, I would never EVER use that technique on you!!

Oh and would someone please put Corny out of his misery.. give him a lychee and pretend he's already there.. :? !!

Yes, we are very keen to get up there and start working. The kids aren't so wildly enthusiastic though. Does anyone have any experience with moving 3 kids (aged 14, 12 and 6, all girls) two hours away from friends and family? Ray and I are very aware that it will be a huge wrench for them, but awareness is only the start.. any practical tips would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers all

I started with a Geocites site and had to change after I got too much traffic.
As it will shut down if you get too many hits in an allocated time (sorry can't remember how many over how long). If you want a site that doesn't do this to you then give Dan a bell  he has said b4 he is happy to host for people.

Re: the kids. Maybe you could invite some of their friends there to stay for a bit.

Have had another look while trying to eat lunch....it looks really nice. I think you guys have got yourselves a nice piece of dirt there. From your map and pictures it looks like you already have a wide range of different areas to adapt.

Fran...that thing!...that!...over there!.....HER! :P

:)

We sure do Corny.. but we are doing lots of thinking before we adapt anything. I feel like I am enthusiasm rich but knowledge poor... however, I am a fast learner so there's hope for me yet.

Yeps...know what you mean Lolly. I have pages and pages of written notes. Am going to set up a big easel (sp?) in the loungeroom when we move with a map of the property...and go from there.

Somehow though, I think regardless of how much planning you do, you need to just work out the larger issues and fill in the blanks as you go. Everytime I put pen to paper I'm thinking of more and more to do/ways to do it. Damn those variables!

Nevertheless it is exciting to know you're soon going to be there (well...after the house is built!)...the days can't go fast enough for us!

Hi all.

Feel free to check out our new website at: http://www.frogsongfarm.com

Regards
Gargun (Ray) & Lolly (Linda) :D

Wow! I looked at all the pictures and I am really jelous!! What a beautiful patch of land. Good luck to both of you.

BTW: what is the climate like in that part of Victoria? Any problems with rainfall? How is the soil? Fertile?

Well, I tried again and I still can't get the page to load fully!! Bloody poop bum bugger bitch! (12 yo dummy spit)
Lolly, call out to Dan, he said he's happy to host people's sites.....

Lolly
08-11-2005, 04:49 PM
Meridian.. will get back to you on all info.. I believe the soil is slightly acidic, the rest I'm not quite sure of as yet.

Tully.. Ray/Gargun is the website grand pooh-bah, he's the one to get to speak to Dan. Ray's on night shift tonight so no doubt he'll continue to tweak the site.. Perhaps he'll even speak to Dan.. :D

Hi everyone *yawn* I'm back at work and glad to see the positive feedback to the new website.

Unfortunately, the hosting is done by Geocities, which is free :D but the downside is that it locks out visitors for an hour if more than 5 megabytes is downloaded (viewed) :( - this is the price you pay for free hosting (did I just make a pun?)

To all those with slow computers or having trouble by being refused access, please be patient...with all the photos on the site, it doesn't take long for the access threshold to be reached if the site is getting lots of hits.

Suffice it to say that the site will be there for a long time to come and we will continue to update it and keep you all informed so you can follow our progress...share our triumphs...and comiserate our failures (and hopefully help us avoid making monumental blunders)

Regards

Ray

Congrats to the the Frog Song Farm Family. How are your girls adjusting to life there?

I particularly enjoyed the page on "growing from cuttings" and am interested to know if people use the hormone powder or generally just strike naturally.

I used it once with roses.. and had a strike rate of one in 3, but have never replaced it. What is it exactly? And are there any limitations or massive benefits to its use?

Linda Woodrow mentions in her book that you can make your own rooting hormone by steeping willow leaves in water. Apparently willow contains high amounts of the rooting homone, which I guess is why they do tend to lay down roots so easily.

I have a little jar of rooting powder and can't really say that I've found the strike rate any better for using it.
