All those interested in participating in #1, it'll only cost a couple of bucks each but if we get enough people it'll be just awesome for the recipient. Please PM me for details about what to do.

Ah just what I needed...

After much dissapointment with the local youth group here.. (who are supposed to have Monday night boxerise every week, which seems to only happen when the instructor feels like showing up)

Anyway. Sam and I have purchased a bit of gear from EBAY (love it :) )And we though we will do it in the park on Saturday mornings. Most of the gear that we bought is pre-loved so don't really care if it gets used by other peiople and wears quicker.. Anyway,,, T'is not a money making venture, but we would pay to do something like this.. So we thought that we would charge a gold coin donation for every time you participate in one of my circuits. Then at the end of every month Donate it to a local charity..
Can I get some ideas of what sort of charites are probably more in need.. Some get all the funding and you others from time to time, who have to struggle to do anything.

Awww, great idea Dan THE Man....but, (Im a worry wart, I know, forgive me,k?) be careful, cos what if someone gets hurt?? You are actually "charging" to do an activity and you'll have no insurance...recipe for disaster in this litigation happy era in which we live :( :( :(
Instead, why don't you offer your classes *as* the donation?(if you know what I mean) ie: Nursing homes, RSL, *you* guys do the youth group nights...something, I dunno.
Nice idea...just needs some brainstorming. :D

YEah sorry forgot to mention that... The reason it is non-profit, ie all gold coin donations to do the circuits go towards a charity.. At the start if each session I will make aware the participants, that I am in no way reponsible if they get hurt and if they at any stage get uncomforty doing a station, that they should stop what they are doing. You will also have to be a ambo subscriber (which everyone SHOULD be anyway)

Hey Dan,

I am with Tully on this. My wife and I used to own a Fitness Centre, and disclaimers - even signed ones, are not worth the paper they are written on.

I really appreciate your heart in this matter, and would love to do something similar myself, but some people are out there to get themselves injured, just so they can sue you. Once you seek legal advise, you realise that it is going to cost you $10k - $20k just to prove your innocence, then they will settle out-of -court for the $10k. They are up $10k for doing very little, and you are out $10k for being a good guy.

My apologies if I am getting off the permie track, but I figured this would be good advise for everyone.

My training partner at the gym had this happen to him, and they took him for $60,000, even though he had done absolutely nothing wrong.

pm me if you want more details

Dan... :D ... our Tai Chi group is "free" but for the instructor to have insurance cover it is run under the umberella of U3A (university of the third age) Will be a group near you....membership is about $40 pa. Participants also have to be members of the Services' Club where the classes are held.
Many local councils have an umberella insurance for park activities that are free to residents...check with them...other Tai Chi groups use this system for classes in the parks.
Cheers
Cathy
